I've finally taken the plunge into Second Life and I blame Quaintly for it. See, I look after her SL blog and couldn't help but read through her posts about it and decided to give it a shot. Have tried SL before but never got past the first few frustrating hours. My avatar would take ages to load or just plain wouldn't move and I'd thought SL just wasn't for me.
But I was curious so I created another account and boy, was it a blast! Googling for freebies, I came across the store Free Dove which had a nice selection of clothes, shoes and even hair. All for $L0!
Happily shopping away and learning to pack/wear things the hard way (I even ended up wearing a box a couple of times...), I'd expected to go off and find adventure.
Adventure found me.
Out of nowhere, some dude IM'd me asking for my blood. And I even got a pair of bitemarks as a souvenir. Nope, not my kind of fashion accessory.
Then this really tall, hot looking female avatar came up to me...and started speaking French. I tried explaining in my poor basic French that I didn't speak it but she continued to chat me up anyway. I discerned from her speech that she thought my skin needed work and then she handed me a card to go visit another store Zero Linden. So of course I TP'd there just to get away from the strange French woman.
Just when I was happily choosing the free assortment available skins-wise, Quaintly IM'd me and offered to TP me over to where she was. We joined a few friends for a game of...Scrabble. Uh-huh. Then she took me to her place where I admired her lovely stairs, pretty grand piano and met the fun and gorgeous Night Morrisey.
Both Quaintly and Night were generous enough to gift me with skins and other accessories. But I think it's their secret plan, like a dealer letting potential clients sample his wares, to keep newbies like me addicted.
Can't say the plan failed.
